Benny's Story
Hi, this is Benny - a Sato from Puerto Rico.

He's a sweet boy who loves butt scratches and naps with his people.

He had a rough few months transitioning from living on the streets, to a shelter and now a home. He isn't the biggest fan of being left alone, but he is learning that he is not being abandoned. Benny has shown a big opinion about being in a kennel, it makes him very upset - he very much prefers being able to free roam and loves to cuddle up on a couch.

Benny loves walks! He does at times get excited about dogs where he will bark/pull but over all - he is a very well-mannered boy on a leash.

Benny is good with most dogs, but he needs slow introductions as he can be intimidated easily. If his new family had another dog, it would need to be a level headed female. Benny absolutely LOVES people, so he would be fine being a solo dog. He has proven to be good with older children, ones that can understand he doesn’t have the best eyesight!

He used to be very nervous in the car, but now he will sit in the back seat and rest his head on the middle counsel! He isn’t the biggest fan of this cold weather, seeing that he lived on a tropical island for 7 years, so he very much enjoys a sweater and a jacket.

In Puerto Rico, he was abandoned and eventually brought to a shelter where he was diagnosed with heartworm and lived there for 10 months before coming to Minnesota. Once he got here, his eyes seemed a bit different than normal, so he got them checked and he was diagnosed with Glaucoma. He may have a bit of damage where he can’t see the best, but overall, a drop a day in each eye has made a world of difference. He also received heartworm treatment in October, so early Spring we will be able to test him again to ensure he is negative!

Benny’s favorite things:
Toys (benebones, nylabones, kongs)
Sweatshirts
Cuddles
& Yummy treats

--
Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption, we can only place animals in homes within a 100-mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting Benny, please go to our website and fill out a dog application.

https://www.therescuepack.org/dog-adoption-application
