Benny (Courtesy)'s Story

This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post.

For more information, please contact ADOPTBENNY@gmail.com

BENNY is a 5yr (ish) old, 65lbs Staffordshire Terrier. He’s spayed and up to date on his initial vaccines. He came from a difficult, neglectful situation on the streets so would do well with someone with some experience with big dogs.

He enjoys the simple things — long naps after meals, slow walks, a cozy spot to settle in with the occasional funny grumble or dramatic sigh to remind you of his big personality. He’s only been with us for a couple of days and has already grown more affectionate and playful, he’ll clearly continue to open up as he settles into a home.

He’s smart - he was on his hind legs turning the doorknob at our vet check room today(!). He can be stubborn on walks; he sometimes PLANTS himself when he doesn’t want to go in a certain direction, so he’ll need loving, kind, patient new owners :). He’s house-trained and adjusting really well to indoor life. He’ll benefit from continued basic training and routine structure, but he learns quickly. We haven’t tested him with other dogs or kids yet so we can’t speak to this. He’s stimulated when he sees dogs on walks but he seems more like he wants to play than attack.

After everything he’s been through, Benny deserves a home that sees what a good, steady dog he already is — and will give him the consistency and care to fully exhale and belong.
