Benji Bubba-4647-Prattville, AL's Story

Hi there! My name is Benji Bubba. I'm 8 yers old, a purebred black&white Boston Terrier and I weigh 21 lb. I am very sweet and
love being around people and the four Boston girls in the house. I just follow the pack around the house and we all love running around outside. Speaking of outside, I love to run, so if you open any door to the outside, I'm taking off! I will eventually come back when you call me but it's best not to let me run in the first place. Foster dad says I'm getting better about this.

We all lay out in the sun during the day and snuggle up on the couch when it gets too hot or too cold
outside. I might be 8 years old, but I play and run like a puppy. I do very well on a leash and do
not tug or pull. I also love car rides, but be careful, I have a habit of sitting on your lap and
steering the wheel. So, keep me in a harness buckled up in the back seat.

My foster parents have been working on my potty training and I'm doing well. We have a pet door we get to use when they are home. Dad also makes all of us go outside first thing in the morning, before he leaves for work, as soon as they get home and before bedtime. And I rarely have an accident now.

Speaking of bedtime, I crawl underneath the covers in the human bed and I would sleep right next to you, but sometimes I sleep on the couch. I am learning basic skills like sit, come, and get down. I absolutely hate the crate and will fight you when you force me into it. If I am in
the crate, expect me to howl and whine.

When it comes to eating I jump at the food and will try to wedge my way to the other dog bowls.I
don't snap, but I scarf down every morsel. My foster dad uses a feed mat to slow my eating. he
is making me sit before he puts my food down, but I would rather jump up and start eating!

I'm good playing with other pets, but my hair stands up when Hank, the neighborhood Labrador
Retriever comes around. Sometimes I growl at him, but I bark a lot at big dogs.

The Basics
Age: 8 years
Weight: 21 pounds
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes
On Heartworm Prevention: Yes
On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes
House-Trained: Yes
Crate-Trained: No, No, No, I hate the crate
Leash Skills: Yes
Medical: I tested positive for heartworm disease and they have me on something called moxy-doxy or slow-kill method of treatment. It's just a course of antibiotics which I have completed, then I get a tube of Advantage Mulit generic put between my shoulder blades once a month. It also prevents fleas, ticks and acts as a a heartworm preventative. If I'm adopted, the rescue would supply the medication needed for this protocol until I turn negative which is usually within a year. I started this treatment in December, 2025.

Likes/Dislikes
Toys: all

Other Animals: good with dogs, cats unknown
People/Kids: People, Kids, yes, but I like to jump, so probably bigger kids
Car Rides: yes
Separation: I don't like my person to leave. Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee's Adoption Policy
For the Application and much more information, go to The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website, Boston Terrier Rescue of East TN at bostonterriertn.org and use the online application. We require both an adoption application & a contract. We check Vet references, interview families and do home visits. We ask for a nominal adoption donation to help us defray the medical expenses of the next homeless dog. It generally costs us more than we take in in fees per dog to completely vet a dog. Many come to us old and frail, often sick, making donations more critical. We are not subsidized by the government or any foundation, but rather by only a few very good people. We're delighted to get donations. Our adoption application is available on-line and we will generally respond within 24-48 hours to your application and answer any initial questions. Anyone wishing to adopt should complete the online application on bostonterriertn.org If you don't get an answer to an inquiry it's probably because your question was already answered in the bio -- and if the dog is still posted on our website, that means he/she is still available.
