He was so scared that he had to be safely trapped by our amazing dog trapper. Thankfully, those days are behind him, and now Benji is safe and getting the chance to show us who he really is.

And turns out... he's one pretty amazing boy.

Benji is a big, handsome guy with the BEST smile! He's friendly, curious, and loves getting outside to explore the yard. He's good with other dogs, would need a slow proper intro to cats, seems to be house trained, and has a sweet, charming personality thats pretty hard not to love.

After everything he's been through, we'd love nothing more than to see Benji trade life on his own for a family of his very own.

Benji is a 2 year old Chow/Shiba mix and he weighs 76 lbs.

Sadly, Benji tested positive for heartworms. But please dont let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about his heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering him (wed love to find him a foster home!). Once his treatment plan is completed, Benji will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!

ADOPTING A DOG
Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).

If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.

We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. Please visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FriendsofKCKAS/ for more info about weekend adoption hours, events and available pets.

We are open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.

FOSTERING
Can't commit to adoption but still want to help us save lives? Consider fostering by filling out our foster application at https://www.kckpd.org/Animal-Services/Foster-a-Pet. All supplies are provided.
