Benji's Story

Meet Benji!! Benji is a 5yo 70lb golden /lab retriever. His owners could no longer find housing that allowed them to keep him so sadly they surrendered him.. He is neutered, chipped and fully vetted. He is Housetrained and crate trained. Benji has some hair loss on his neck and chest from an allergy rash that had been untreated. Benji is a great dog but he is very emotional and needs time to adjust to new people.. He is scaredy cat with fireworks, thunder and strong wind. He is ready to find his forever home. He loves toys, balls, ropes. He loves playing fetch even though he doesn’t always remember to bring the item back! Benji would love a fenced yard to play in. He hasn’t had lots of experience with other dogs or cats so meet with other dogs a must. He walks perfectly with an halti or gentle leader but he needs some greeting training so he doesn’t jump up to hug people who aren’t interested. He loves to be invited to stand and hug you. He gets scared with unknown or unexpected house visitors and will bark ferociously to defend his family but he is super smart and responds quickly to correction of any unwanted behavior. We are looking for a more quiet adult home with experienced big dog owners. In all ways this big boy is your typical lab/golden retriever and he is looking for his forever home- could it be with you?
