Must own your own home!<br/>Must live in New Jersey.<br/><br/>Meet Benji. He's gonna be 2 in Oct 2026.<br/>He's an owner surrender. Previous owner was diagnosed with cancer.<br/>He lived with a married older couple. This boy needs a home with no more then 2 people. More then two he will continue to bark.<br/><br/>According to the previous owner, young children make him very nervous. <br/>Turns out he was never around young children. <br/>We did test him with children and he's not good. He will growl and bark non stop.<br/>He was never socialized. He was never around cats and he only played with a neighbors one dog. We tested him with our dogs and we just "recently" found he is dog selective. So we are looking for a home BY HIMSELF.<br/>We tested him with cats and that didn't work so NO cats.<br/><br/>Benji has bonded with another dog Cookie. We believe because of her, he has changed and is not so needy of a human. He looks for her when she's not near him. We'd love to see them go together.<br/><br/>Benji is house and crate trained.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, he will bark when your leaving the home, he will bark when you go out of his view. Car rides make him nervous but eventually he'll settle down. He was pretty good on transport but someone was holding him the entire ride.<br/><br/>To be clear.. we know this dog. We know what he needs. We are looking for a mid age person(s). Someone who can give him all that attention. Someone that does not have a lot of activity. Someone who is retired and/or works from home. It will take him time to trust, but once he does he will be fine.<br/><br/>We do NOT believe in dogs off a leash. Especially this dog. He's a flight risk. He will take off and not come back. He was tested.<br/><br/>The barking may or may not be a deal breaker for some but we have to note it.<br/>Placed in the right home that will give him love, patience and time he is young enough to learn and he'll do just fine . <br/><br/>We also are open to him being fostered with someone till he finds that special home. Here in the south he's with over 60 dogs which doesn't help him.<br/>Foster must live in NJ.<br/><br/>We uploaded a video of him playing with Cookie another dog we have up for adoption.
