Benji's Story

AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT
Hi there! My name is Benji, and I'm living proof that miracles really do happen.

Not too long ago, I was at my lowest point. I had been brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control so sick that I couldn't even eat, and my future looked pretty grim. But then something amazing happened - the wonderful people at C.A.R.E. got an SOS call about me, and without hesitation, they said "YES!" to giving me a second chance at life.

I needed emergency surgery and spent almost a week in the hospital fighting severe pancreatitis that nearly took my life. But with the incredible care I received and the love of my foster family, I pulled through stronger than ever!

And now? Well, now I'm ready for a real home of my own through our Foster-to-Adopt program. I'm happiest when I'm with my people. I'm that playful neighborhood dog who wants to be friends with absolutely everyone I meet. My personality is as big as my heart, and I've got energy to spare for all the adventures life has to offer. I'm housebroken, crate trained, and good with children and other dogs. I am on a special diet-a prescription food that is gentle on my tummy. It's a good thing I like it, because the food is also used as my reward treats.

I do have one thing I'm working on: I can be a bit territorial in certain situations, and I'll need a dedicated adopter who's willing to work with our trainer to help me overcome this. With patience, consistency, and the right guidance, I know I can continue to grow and improve! This is why I'm available through Foster-to-Adopt only-so we can make sure we're the perfect match while working together on my training.

I'm looking for a family who can give me the love and attention I crave, help me build my confidence through positive training, and let me be their best buddy. A house with a backyard would be ideal. I've learned that every day is a gift, and I want to spend mine making my new family as happy as they'll make me.

I've already beaten the odds once, and now I'm ready to win the ultimate prize-a forever home where I can share all the love and gratitude that's been building up in my heart.

Could that home be with you?
Love,
Benji
