Bender's Story

Bender is now up for adoption with us at the pound!
He is neutered and vaccinated.

Bender needs a home where he can thrive OUTSIDE the shelter environment.
He needs an adopter that understands the breed and the mannerisms of a "prey reactive" dog. He wants to engage in "play" with bigger dogs, but when presented with smaller dogs, he is reactive and can be hard to control his impulses.

He's been with our facility for almost 2 years now with NO interest in anyone taking him on as a "rescue" or "rehab" adopt. With so many areas around us having certain breed bans, it's hard to adopt out locally, so we are reaching out to a bigger audience.

What we know about him:
Strong and hard headed; he's 65 pounds of muscle but thinks he's a lap dog and wants your full attention. He is VERY treat/food motivated.

He appears to be very loyal to anyone that will sit and bond with him; he listens but doesn't always "follow commands" (it takes a few tries with some treats to bribe him)

He is "prey" reactive. NO cats, NO farm animals, NO small dogs/animals can be around.

Small children are not recommended; he is a bulldozer when he goes after something and he does like to jump up and on (something else we are working on with him) - we would recommend children that are more sure-footed and can handle his excitement at times (maybe 12 and older).

We are working with him on socializing; he doesn't seem to mind being checked over, but he does NOT trust dogs coming up behind him.

We are in constant observation of him on a daily basis any changes in behavior we will pass on to potential adopters.
