Beluga's Story
Name: Beluga
Breed: Beagle
Sex: Spayed Female
Age: 5 years
Weight: 18 lbs
Animal Number: 4600

Sweet, Mellow, Shy, Gentle, Former Research Dog, Future Beloved Pet - Has Medical Needs

Good with dogs? Yes, Beluga loves other dogs, preferably calm dogs, and follows them around to learn how to play and be happy. When out walking on leash, she greets other dogs with a wagging tail and curiosity.

Good with cats? Beluga has met a foster cat and minds her own business around the cat.

Good with kids? Not Tested, but she would do better with older kids who dont make loud noises or fast movements.

Energy level: Medium to Low. She enjoys following her humans around the house and sniffing around the yard, but is just learning about talking walks, playing and toys. She is just starting to chew on bones and hard toys.

Medical needs: Beluga has allergies that may be mainly environmental. She is currently taking Cytopoint injections every 4-6 weeks for her itching. She has grade 1-2 dental disease and will need a dental cleaning in the future. Her adopter should follow up with their primary veterinarian for treatment recommendations regarding both her allergies and her teeth

Animal Characteristics: Beluga is a sweet, mellow, shy, gentle, former research beagle who is learning how to be a beloved family member outside of laboratory confinement. She is curious but cautious. She startles easily and is still learning how to trust humans, but she loves following her humans around. She gravitates towards other animals, preferring the company of her foster dog and cat as she watches how they interact with humans. Beluga is working on potty training and sitting for treats. She goes outside on her own with encouragement and is doing a good job with learning! She likes to snooze in her doggie bed and in a crate, which she finds comforting. Shes great at riding in a car and snuggles up to her foster brother to feel safe. She has started to find her voice and barks if other dogs in her home are barking, or if someone comes to the front door. Beluga is a sweetheart who will need a patient adopter with a calm, peaceful to continue her training and socialization, providing lots of love and encouragement as she settles into the wonderful life she deserves!

Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process.
