In early December, we were alerted to a family of Chihuahuas living outdoors without shelter. The owners were leaving the country and planned to leave the dogs behind. We were able to rescue the entire family, including Mom (Clara) and her puppies, Belle, Cindy Lou, Hermie, and Zuzu.<br/><br/>Belle is a delightful 6-month-old puppy weighing approximately 4.8 pounds. She has a beautiful reddish-brown coat and a wonderful personality. She is high-energy, loves toys, and enjoys wrestling with the other small dogs in her foster home. When she isn’t playing, she loves to crawl into a lap for belly rubs.<br/><br/>Belle is very smart and is already potty trained, comfortable using both the outdoors and potty pads. She has learned to use a doggy door and is trained to walk on a harness and leash for her daily walks. At night, she sleeps quietly in her crate but prefers to sleep with you in the bed if allowed.<br/><br/>To ensure Belle finds the perfect forever home, we are looking for the following requirements:<br/><br/>– Activity Level: A high-activity household where people are home frequently. She needs a family that can check on her every 4–6 hours.<br/>– Companionship: A home with at least one other small dog (ages 1–4) 15lbs or less for her to play with. Applications with no dog will not be considered.<br/>– Safety: A home with a secure wooden fence due to her small size.<br/>– Environment: A house rather than an apartment, as she will be alert to strange noises.<br/>– Family: She would do well with children aged 10 and older.<br/><br/>Belle has packed her toys and is ready for her forever home. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.<br/><br/>As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention.
