Bella Ray's Story

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or North Central Texas area.

NAME: Bella Ray
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Birthday 6/7/2020 (so 5 1/2 years old)
WEIGHT: About 13 pounds (needs to lose a few pounds)
DOGS/CATS: Gets along well with other dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (13 and older)
OTHER: Chiweenie (1/2 Chihuahua and 1/2 Daschund)

Meet one of our newest fosters – Bella Ray. This is an adorable Chiweenie (1/2 Chihuahua and 1/2 Daschund) that has just been added into our program. She has the sweetest personality and is looking for her forever home.

Bella Ray was an owner surrender from someone who was looking to downsize her number of dogs. Bella Ray has had a few litters. She has never been to the vet, so we will be taking her to get all her vet work completed. No more litters for this girl!

Bella Ray gets along with the other small dog in her foster home. She is a “get along” kind of girl and mostly ignores the other Chihuahua, giving her appropriate space. Bella Ray has a laid back personality. She enjoys a little sun in the backyard. We have not seen her play with toys yet.

More than anything, Bella Ray loves family time. Bella Ray is a little cautious when she meets new people, but warms up fairly quickly. Once she knows you are safe, she wants love and attention! She is even tempered and has an accepting personality. Bella Ray is a little more cautious around men, but is becoming more accepting as she realizes she is in a safe environment. Bella Ray will follow you from room to room so she doesn’t miss any excitement. She loves snuggling with her family and will lay for hours asking for belly rubs as you enjoy time together. She also loves burrowing under blankets. If you want a lap buddy, Bella Ray wants to volunteer for the job.

Bella Ray’s birthday is 6/7/2020, so she is 5 1/2 years old. She is currently 13 pounds but a little “fluffy” (IE overweight). Our vet would like us to get her down to about 11 pounds, so we have her on a weight loss program where we are measuring her food. She is doing well with her new eating habits. Moving forward it will be critical to measure her food and control her portions so she does not become overweight (no free feeding). Bella Ray has a beautiful tri-color coat (black, tan and white). She has beautiful ears and beautiful eyes.

Bella Ray has been working on her potty habits and is doing great. She goes outside to potty and will use potty pads as a backup. Bella Ray is crate trained and will quietly sleep in her crate at night. She also wants you to know that she would be open to sleeping with her family if you would like to have a cuddle buddy at night. Bella Ray is great at walks with her harness and leash. She really enjoys that daily activity.

The perfect home for Bella Ray would be one with moderate energy and a lot of love. Bella Ray would be fine as an only dog and would also assimilate into a laid back pack with another small dog. Bella Ray would do well with a work at home family. She would love to hang around in your office and would be no problem at all. Bella Ray does alert at strange noises but settles down pretty quickly. We are not sure she would do well in apartments due to the barking. There are no children in her foster home but we think she would do well with older, mature children (13 and older).

Bella Ray is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ Note: it works best when our application is filled out on a computer versus a phone or tablet. When it submits correctly, the system will send you a copy. Feel free to email us at DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you need help with the application.

Bella Ray is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Her vet work is completed and she is ready for her forever home.

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation required.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
