Bella Grace's Story
This sweet girl is Bella Grace! Bella is an almost 8 year old (her 8th birthday is on Jan 23rd!) Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

Bella came to us when her owners became ill and unable to give her the life she deserves. She was very well taken care of and loved. She’s now been in her foster home for a week, and although the first few days were confusing to her, she has settled in wonderfully and is a very sweet and happy girl. She’s a little anxious with new places and people, so she needs a bit of time to get comfortable. Bella loves to be with her people and receive attention, but she’s not clingy and is happy to find a cozy spot to relax or entertain herself with toys if you are busy, she’s just happy that you’re home with her.

In her previous home, Bella’s owners were home with her most of the time. In her foster home, she’s not thrilled that foster mom goes to work. She’s not destructive when left alone, but will often cry and just be very unsettled. She’s slowly getting used to the work routine, but would prefer a home where her people are with her most of the time. She has also stayed at the local doggy daycare and is happy to get attention from the staff.

Bella is fine with other mellow dogs of all sizes. She has been around cats, but doesn’t like it when there’s more than one of them as it’s in her nature to make sure she knows where everyone is and what’s going on at all times (Corgi’s are a herding breed) and more than one squirrelly cat is hard to keep track of.

She’s not a fan of small children, as they are noisy and make too many sudden movements. She’s prefers a calmer environment.

As with most dogs, she is the self-appointed President of the Neighborhood Watch! With this title, she believes it is her job to alert you when the garbage truck is here, packages are being delivered, and landscapers are in the yard. Bella will need to live in a house, no apartments/condos/townhomes with shared walls as hearing activities of the neighbors will cause her to bark. Keeping her people safe is normal Corgi behaviour.

Bella is super smart, she knows many commands and tricks.

Bella weighs 25lbs, but needs to lose just a couple pounds, so she’s currently on Weight Watchers. We are limiting the amount of treats she gets, and encourage a little more activity (playing, chasing the ball, walks, etc.). She loves to go for walks and walks very well on the leash.

We just saw the vet and aside from being a bit chubby, Dr. said she’s looking great! She was found to have a UTI and is on antiobiotics and medicine for it. She has no potty concerns. She sleeps all through the night, never an accident or dribbling.

Bella is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her vaccines.

Her adoption fee is $150. If you are interested in meeting Bella Grace, or have any questions about her, please fill out the adoption interest form at wecareforanimals.org and her foster mom will be in touch.
