Bella's Story

Bella the Boxer is about 4 years old. She is a wonderful dog that has been very misunderstood by her previous owner who did not research the breed before adopting a Boxer. Bella loves children and all people. She gets along well with most other dogs, however, occasionally does not get along with a particular dog. Because of this we prefer to place her in a home without other dogs or cats. Bella is housebroken and crate trained and acts younger than 4 years old. She loves to go for walks and would benefit from having a big fenced in yard. She would be an excellent match for a family with children or for someone who is looking for a companion (retired person).
Bella’s owner boarded her at a substandard kennel. When we picked her up she was 32 lbs. and emaciated, filthy and her spirit was broken from being abandoned. They left her at the kennel because she was not getting along with the other dog in the household. She was there for a couple of months and was literally starving herself with depression. The owners obviously never checked on her or simply did not care because she was a mess when we picked her up. We feel from the conversations with the owner that they did not want Bella because they had bought a “show-quality “ Boxer and Bella did not measure up to what they thought a Boxer should look like. Bella has been to dog parks for socialization and did well. However, we feel she should go to a home that knows and understands this breed, and is willing to accept her little Boxer quirks (loyal and protective). Bella is being fostered in PA but her foster mom is having surgery and will not be able to care for Bella. This dog needs a foster home or permanent home as soon as possible. Boarding her is not an option because she will not be able to emotionally handle that. It would devastate her.

Click here to fill out our online Adoption Application
