Bella's Story

Bella is being fostered in Colorado.
Farm raised, family ready. Meet Bella!

Meet Bella: a country sweetheart with a lot of love to give. She is a 27lb, 8-month-old Dachshund mix (possibly lab/shepherd) who came to us all the way from an animal sanctuary in Kentucky. Farm life gave her a love for animals—she especially enjoyed running around chasing the pigs and cows! Now she’s discovering the joys of suburban life and is doing a fantastic job adapting.

Bella is a sweet, loving, and cuddly dog who adores her people and enjoys plenty of affection—especially belly rubs. She gets along well with other dogs and would be happy with canine friends or as your devoted companion. Though she hasn’t lived with children before, her gentle, easygoing nature suggests she’d adapt well. Having once roamed 100 acres, Bella would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can run and enjoy her zoomies.

She is food-motivated, making training enjoyable as she continues learning basic commands. New to leashes and walks, she’s adjusting quickly and doing great. She’s making solid progress with potty training, does best with regular outings, and may thrive with a doggie door. On cold days, she might need a little extra encouragement to head outside (can’t blame her!)

Bath time isn’t her favorite, but she tolerates it like a champ and will likely grow more comfortable with it in time—but thankfully she is very forgiving, and would gladly accept a bone as an apology. Bella is kennel-trained and settles in easily, sleeping soundly through the night. She is microchipped and spayed.

Bella will make a wonderful companion for a lucky family. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate pup who will happily cuddle up after an adventure, Bella might just be your perfect match!

Bella is currently being fostered in Colorado.

Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR) has foster families in Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. Please check the dog’s location before your apply to adopt them. You will need to pick them up. RMDR DOES NOT TRANSPORT THE DOG TO YOU or transport them across state lines.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture requires that all dogs entering PACFA-licensed facilities have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of entry. Dogs over three months of age must also have proof of a current rabies vaccination, including the vaccination date, manufacturer, and serial number listed on the CVI. Puppies must receive parvovirus and distemper vaccinations at least 14 days before entry.

These PACFA requirements may affect the adoption fee. For questions, please email us at contact@rmdr.org.

At RMDR, adoptions are not first-come, first-served—we carefully place each dog in the home that best fits their needs. Applications are usually reviewed within 48 hours. Every RMDR dog is spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

If you’d like to be considered, please start our online adoption application here: https://rockymountaindachshundrescue.com/adopt
