Bella's Story

**If interested, please do not send us a message through PetFinder. Instead, please go to our website to fill out an application: www.projectpawsdogrescue.com. The adoption fee is $975.**

Meet Bella! This little girl is a 1 year old, approx. 20lb American Eskimo, coming to us from a Quebec shelter. She was found abandoned and left tied in front of a pet store.

Bella is a young, energetic pup and has been settling well into her foster home. She was understandably nervous at first, and startled easily, so the first couple of weeks have been all about decompression and letting her know that she is safe.

Since then, we have learned that she is a high energy girl and loves to go on long walks. Even after a 6-7k walk, she will happily run around the backyard. She's fast too and has great agility—she would be great for someone who is interested in training her on an agility course or similar. She thrives best when she has an outlet for her boundless energy.

Bella is also incredibly smart and highly trainable. She is quick to figure out her puzzle toys and has been picking up her basic commands easily. She was terrified of car rides at first, but her foster has made her comfortable now to a level where she will jump into the backseat with only a slight hesitation.

Bella is crate trained and will sleep in it without issue through the night. She is also housetrained, however, if she is excited or startled, she will piddle. Her fosters mitigate this by immediately taking her outside after a nap and only then giving her attention; they also approach her calmly and make sure she is aware of their presence when harnessing her for a walk to avoid being startled.

Bella does well with people so long as they let her approach on her own terms. She does not do well with other dogs, and would be best as an only-dog in the home. On walks, her foster manages her behaviour well and she will only stare at another dog without lunging or barking. She has not been tested with cats or children yet.
