Belinda did show some hesitation around new dogs, but she was easily redirected with a treat, toy, or turning away. She thoroughly enjoyed playing with the stuffed seahorse toy in the grass, and even did some somersaults while playing. She did well while walking, but needs to work on leash pulling a little. She also still has a habit of thinking her leash is a toy to be chewed on, but does fairly well when redirected from it. In the car she wanted to be right up next to me, whether that was making her way into the front seat, or putting her head right next to mine from the back seat. Overall Belinda was well behaved, and just needs to work on the leash chewing and pulling.<br/><br/>7/6/26 Volunteer Feedback: Belinda loves attention, whether it’s from humans or other dogs, she wants to entertain you with her personality! She barks when excited or when in her kennel. Additionally, she has the puppy habit still of thinking that leashes and harnesses are chew toys, so I would keep those items out of reach until she can learn more. Belinda is a great walking companion. She is curious about bunnies and cars, but has learned to not chase either of them or bark at them. She stops to smell things but doesn’t linger too long. She loves to be by her human, so you don’t have to worry about her pulling when on walks.<br/><br/>6/30/26 Volunteer Feedback: Belinda is dog-selective and requires slow, thoughtful introductions when meeting new dogs. She has participated in a supervised interaction with one other dog alongside the behavior team and overall did ok. During play, Belinda displayed a very enthusiastic and physical play style, including body slamming and jumping. Because of her energetic play, ongoing supervision is recommended to ensure excitement does not escalate into overarousal.<br/><br/>Belinda has also successfully integrated with another dog following 1–2 days of gradual introductions, demonstrating that she can coexist with compatible canine companions when given appropriate time to adjust.<br/><br/>During a recent pack walk, Belinda was able to settle and remain comfortable in the presence of other dogs throughout the walk. She did not participate in any direct dog-to-dog introductions during that event.<br/><br/>Belinda would be best suited to a home that is committed to managing introductions carefully and supervising interactions with other dogs. With patience and appropriate guidance, she has shown the ability to build positive relationships with compatible canine companions.<br/><br/>5/20/26 Temporary Care Feedback:<br/><br/>I took Belinda for a sleepover, and here are the things I learned about her.<br/><br/>• Belinda made it clear she was not a fan of taking a bath, but she tolerated it, even though she seemed to consider the whole process torture. 3<br/>• Belinda is a beautiful young dog with a sweet personality. She is so gentle and kind and still acts like a puppy. She is very interested in learning commands and would benefit from some basic obedience training.<br/>• Belinda would do best with slow introductions to other dogs. She showed a wide range of emotions when introduced to my resident dogs. She shifted from curious, to scared, to wanting to play, to slightly aggressive and reactive. One of our permanent dogs reacts to any new dog that takes our attention, which didn’t help the situation. Belinda got along fine with our small old male dog, so the dynamic may be easier with males than with the females.<br/>• Belinda doesn’t like sleeping on dog beds. She prefers to pull all the blankets into the middle of the floor and sleep on those. She slept for six straight hours after all the change and excitement of going from the shelter to a home for the night.<br/>• Belinda had no accidents inside and seemed to understand the “outside” command.<br/>• Belinda loves walks, but you need to watch her closely. If she is not watched she will chew on her collar or leash.<br/>• Belinda was very anxious in the kennel for short periods during the night, but the next morning she did a fabulous job being kenneled with no crying or barking.<br/>• She is not food motivated; she eats slowly even with her medication mixed in and doesn’t care much for treats unless they are placed right in front of her.<br/>• After a full day of getting comfy, Belinda was phenomenal. She was super relaxed, liked to gently play with toys and give kisses to our 12 year old male dog.<br/><br/>It was such a joy to have Belinda spend a couple nights with us!
