Bebe's Story

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST. (Yes, I know it's a long one. Bebe is worth the read.)

Meet Bebe!

Bebe is a charming 8 year old female chihuahua/Dachshund/Jack Russell mix. She weighs in at just 5 and a half pounds.

She is friendly with dogs, cats, and older kids. She is housebroken, spayed, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines. She is heartworm negative, wormed, and her bloodwork looks good. She is very sweet loyal little dog who really wants a person to call her own.

This tiny girl has overcome some very serious medical issues and has some very specific needs in an adoptive family.

Bebe will need an experienced adopter. She currently needs a home-cooked bland diet. That may change in the future and it may not. But she is a picky eater with a discriminating palette and a sensitive stomach, and so far has refused to eat any brand of dog food we have offered. Her new family must be willing to accommodate her food idiosyncrasies.

Bebe does not understand a leash. She gator rolls, bites the leash, backs out of the harness, and struggles to escape. She also can have very poor recall when off leash. Because of this, a fenced yard is REQUIRED. No exceptions. Yes, this issue can most likely be resolved with training. And her new family will need to be willing to work with her. But she needs a fenced yard to keep her safe.

Bebe has exhibited some separation anxiety, and quite frankly that is not surprising once you are aware of her history. Her anxiety has decreased considerably in the last weeks, which is good news. But she will need someone who is home often and can help her feel secure in her world again. Another well adjusted small dog in the home would be ideal for her, as she has never been without a canine buddy.

All that being said, she is a smart, loyal little dog who wants a person to claim as her own. Whoever she claims will most assuredly be a very fortunate person. She is a special little dog.

If you think Bebe might be a good fit for your family, message me for an application. Available to Ohio and surrounding states only. Located at Logans Run Dachshund Sanctuary near Bucyrus Ohio. Must be willing to pick her up. No transports! Adoption fee is $250.
