Beau is a 7 year old mix breed who weighs about 65lbs who is super smart and affectionate. Even though he is older, he loves to play and be a part of any activities his human is taking part in. He enjoys splashing around in a kiddie pool, taking long information-gathering sniffing walks, playing fetch and mastering puzzle toys. Beau is also happy to lounge around quietly if that's what on the schedule for the day. He picks up on the energy around him and does best in a calm environment where he knows what to expect and feels safe.<br/><br/>Beau is "alert" around other dogs and isn't a fan of rude greetings when he is on leash and they aren't (which is totally normal). He is tolerant of and sometimes enjoys playing with mellow canine companions, but he can be choosy based on their energy. Beau had a reported history of resource guarding food bowls, but not with all dogs or people. Ideally we would love to see him as the only dog in the home, where he can get all the love and attention he craves. Older kids or teenagers who have a regular routine should be fine with Beau. He would love a home with a fenced yard but that's not a dealbreaker as long as he gets regular walks so he can sniff and explore to his heart's content.<br/><br/>Beau was rescued from Mississippi in 2021 and adopted but as his once tight family unit grew with the addition of toddlers and another dog, the busy household became stressful for him and he was returned in June of 2025. He's now looking for a forever family that understands him and can give him the balance of activity, companionship, and calm he needs.<br/><br/>Beau is loyal, loving, goofy, and incredibly eager to connect with his people. If you're looking for a devoted best friend who's always up for an adventure, a movie night snuggle or a nice nap, Beau is the perfect match.<br/><br/>PLEASE NOTE - We will check your veterinary reference, to ensure that current and prior dogs have a history of being kept up to date on rabies and distemper, <br/>Current pets must by spayed/neutered.<br/><br/>Adoption fees cover age specific vaccinations, martingale collar, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/ehrlichia test, worming and transport fees. <br/><br/>Adoption fees: <br/>Through 6 months of age $450; <br/>7 months to through 5 years $400; <br/>6 years and under 9 years $325: bonded pairs are $500; <br/>9 years and older $250: bonded pairs are $300 <br/><br/>This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning Pending Adoption. This dog is in foster care locally, ONLY if Maine is listed next to the dogs name; otherwise, the dog is still waiting with our partner rescue for an adoption or foster home in New England. <br/><br/>Imported dogs are transported on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate.
