Beau's Story

Hi! My name is Beau and I am looking for a forever home. I was picked up as a stray by Animal Control and taken to a really scary place called a shelter. I spent several months there and just hid in the back of my kennel making myself invisible (which is easy being an all black dog). I then heard through the grapevine that I was going to be placed on something bad called "the list" due to overcrowding and me not showing well. Fortunately, a volunteer for BCAA saw me and contacted a small rescue to help get me sprung. I look to be pretty labby and I'm guesstimated to be between 1-2years old and weigh a little over 55lbs but since I am on the skinny side I'm getting a little extra food.. I was pretty scared when I first came into foster but it didn't take me long to learn that I was safe and then my goof lab side came out. My foster was able to get me into a Prison Dog Program called "New Leash on Life" so I could learn some things I missed out on spending so much time in the shelter and where I'm doing really, really good. My previous foster mom says she's not surprised as she says I am a smart boy who really wants to please and just need a little fine tuning which the program is addressing (things like walking good on leash without pulling, sit, stay and crate training). I have gotten along with all of the other dogs I have met and so far haven't bothered those things called cats but did show some interest in what they were. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
