Meet Beau — a loyal senior sweetheart looking for a soft place to land. <br/><br/>At approximately 10 years old and 42 pounds, Beau is an apricot/beige mixed breed gentleman who has spent his entire life devoted to one person. Sadly, after his owner of 10 years passed away, Beau found himself needing a new beginning. While the transition has been difficult for him, this sweet boy is slowly learning that love and stability still exist.<br/><br/>Beau is neutered, potty trained, crate trained, and knows commands like “sit” and “leave it.” His crate has become his safe space, and although his previous owner crated him often, Beau now enjoys having the freedom to come and go as he pleases. At night, he’s happiest curled up at the foot of the bed near his people.<br/><br/>This handsome senior enjoys the simple things in life — peaceful walks, tasty treats, soft pets, and lounging near the people he loves most. Don’t let his age fool you either… Beau still enjoys playing with toys and gets excited when it’s time for a walk! He can pull a little at first from excitement, but settles nicely once he gets going.<br/><br/>Beau would thrive in a calm, adult-only home with patient adopters who understand he’s been through major life changes. Because he spent most of his life with an elderly gentleman, he’s still adjusting to new people, sounds, and stimulation. He may bark when visitors enter the home and has had one incident where he growled and nipped while feeling overwhelmed, but those who know Beau believe this behavior comes from confusion and stress as he adjusts to losing the only life he’s ever known.<br/><br/>He gets along well with other dogs and mostly minds his own business after a quick sniff. He’s currently living with a cat and they are slowly learning to coexist peacefully. Beau would appreciate a fenced yard where he can safely explore and enjoy the outdoors.<br/><br/>One of Beau’s cutest quirks? He prefers to sit on a rug when asked to “sit,” and he takes treats very seriously — you’ll definitely want to remind him to “take it easy!” He also adores affection and will happily soak up every bit of love you’re willing to give.<br/><br/>Beau isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for patience, understanding, and someone willing to help him feel safe again.
