Beau's Story

🐾Meet Beau 🐾
Beau has been in our care for over a month now, and what we’ve learned about him is this: he is a deeply sensitive little survivor who is going to form an incredible bond with his person… but only if he’s given the time and space to get there.
This 3 to 5 year old Bichon Frise boy, around 10 to 12 pounds, is not a “plug and play” dog. He is a slow burn. The world still feels overwhelming to him, and he needs an adopter who understands that love, for Beau, looks like patience, quiet, and respect for his pace.

When you give him that, you start to see it. The soft eyes. The little moments of trust. The beginning of something really special.

🌟 About Beau:
• Low energy with the occasional playful zoomie
• Loves toys and gentle affection once he feels safe
• Good with cats
• Would do best as the only dog
• Not suited for homes with children
• Mostly house trained with a few overnight accidents
• Still learning leash skills
• Not crate trained

💡 What Beau Needs:
A calm, adult-only home where expectations are low and patience is high. He needs someone who will let him decompress properly, without pressure to be social, cuddly, or “normal” right away. That means giving him space, moving slowly, and understanding that trust is earned over time, not days.
A fenced yard will set him up for success while he builds confidence, and his adopter should be comfortable working through some food guarding and anxiety in a thoughtful, structured way.
Beau is not for everyone. But for the right person, the one who understands that the best relationships take time, he is going to be everything.

💛 What’s included in your adoption fee?
At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, we’re committed to ethical rescue and lifelong support.
