Beau's Story
Meet Beau

If Beau could talk, he'd probably tell you, "I've spent enough time tied down... now I'm making up for it one sniff at a time!"

This handsome 5-year-old, 75-pound Treeing Walker Coonhound didn't have the easiest start in life. Beau came from a home where he spent much of his time chained to a pole. But despite that sad beginning, he hasn't let it dim his love for life.

Today, Beau is all about freedom, fresh air, and following his nose wherever it leads. Give this boy a yard and he'll happily zoom around, dig a few "important excavation projects," and investigate every scent Mother Nature has left behind. Once his detective work is complete, he's perfectly content to stretch out in the grass and supervise the neighborhood from his favorite outdoor observation post.

Beau gets along nicely with other dogs in the adjoining play yards... as long as they understand one thing: he's a sniffer, not a sprinter. While the other dogs may be training for the Doggy Olympics along the fence line, Beau is busy solving mysteries like, "Who walked through here three days ago?" and "Why does that bush smell suspiciously like squirrel?"

On walks, his nose occasionally takes over the navigation system, so he can pull a little on leash when he catches an interesting scent trail. After all, every walk is a new investigation.

And when the workday is done? Beau transforms from Master Detective into Professional Couch Snuggler. He loves curling up beside his people for some well-earned relaxation.

One warning: if you put treats in your pocket, Beau WILL know. Instantly. You may think you've hidden them. Beau disagrees. His case files remain open until every last snack has been located and confiscated.

Because Beau didn't always know where his next meal would come from, he can be a little protective of his food and high-value treats. He does best when mealtime is his own special time and his people respect his space while he enjoys his snacks. With a little understanding and management, Beau is happy to focus on what he does bestbeing a loyal companion and expert cuddle buddy.

Beau has spent enough of his life tied to a pole. Now he's ready for a family who will let him explore, sniff, nap, cuddle, and finally enjoy the life every dog deserves.

Could you be the happy ending this sweet detective has been searching for?

Helen O.
