Beau's Story

Meet Beau!

If Beau could talk, he'd probably tell you, "I've spent enough time tied down... now I'm making up for it one sniff at a time!"

This handsome 5-year-old, 75-pound Treeing Walker Coonhound didn't have the easiest start in life. Beau came from a home where he spent much of his time outside on a chain. But despite that sad beginning, he hasn't let it dim his love for life.

Beau is happiest when he's outside exploring. Give him a yard, and he'll happily sniff every inch, investigate every interesting scent, and then surprise you with an occasional burst of joyful zoomies before relaxing in the grass to watch the world go by.

He gets along well with other dogs in neighboring play yards, but he's usually more interested in following his nose than chasing his friends. On walks, he may pull a bit when he catches an exciting scent because every outing is a new adventure.

After a day of exploring, Beau loves nothing more than curling up on the couch with his favorite people. And if you have treats in your pocket, don't bother trying to hide them, his nose will find them every time!

Because Beau didn't always know where his next meal would come from, he can be protective of his food and high-value treats. He does best when he's given space to enjoy his meals.

Beau is ready for a family who will give him the freedom to explore, the chance to run and play, the comfort of a loving home, and all the cuddles he deserves. Helen Krause Organization (HOKAFI)'s Adoption Policy
We are not a same day adoption facility because we believe in matching pets with the perfect homes and vice versa! We treat each adoption as a case by case basis as each animal we care for is unique in their own way. We like potential pet parents to apply in person after meeting their desired new friend. We do not have application fees but we do have adoption fees that are determined by a pet's age. We do home visits with dog adoptions to help your new friend settle in. Please feel free to call us to make an appointment or come to our open adoption hours to meet our furry friends in need of homes. Visit us Saturdays 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
