BEAR's Story

Meet Bear - A Gentle Giant Looking for His Forever Home
A year ago, Bear's life looked very different.
We found this beautiful 6 yr old German Shepherd in one of the worst neglect situations we had ever seen. He weighed only around 70-80 pounds when he should have been well over 100. Every rib and hip bone showed through his frail body. He had lost most of his coat from a severe skin infection, was malnourished, exhausted, and so heartbroken that he would simply cry.
Despite everything he had endured, Bear never stopped wanting kindness.
Over the past year, we have poured our hearts into helping him heal. He received the veterinary care he desperately needed, proper nutrition, endless love, and finally learned what it feels like to be safe.
Today, Bear is almost unrecognizable from the dog we rescued. He now weighs around 120 pounds, his beautiful coat has grown back, and his eyes are full of happiness instead of sadness. His transformation has been incredible.
The most amazing part of Bear isn't his recovery--it's his heart.
He is a gentle giant who simply wants to be close to his people. He loves affection, leans into you for hugs, enjoys being petted, and is happiest just lying beside someone he trusts. He has never shown aggression and has the sweetest, most loving personality. After everything he's been through, all Bear wants is someone who will love him the way he has always deserved.
Making the decision to find Bear a new home has been incredibly difficult because he means so much to us. We love him deeply, and that is exactly why we want to make sure he finds the perfect family.
We are looking for someone who understands the commitment of owning a German Shepherd and will treat Bear as a member of the family--not just a dog. We want him to have a home where he'll receive the love, patience, and companionship he has waited his entire life for.
We will be carefully choosing his new family. We would like to meet potential adopters, learn about the home he'll be living in, and make sure it's the right fit. Bear has already survived more than any dog should ever have to endure, and we promised him that he would never be neglected again.
If you have room in your heart and your home for a loyal best friend who will love you with everything he has, Bear is waiting to meet you.
His past does not define him.
His future is waiting for the right person to write the rest of his story. Amanda LaPalm
He needs someone with a little bit of property or large fenced yard. We want someone who can dedicate some time spent with him every day and someone who understands Shepherds.
This dog will be going to Plymouth Rd Vet where he will receive all the remaining medical care he needs. He will be neutered, tested for Anaplasma, Erichiclia, Heart Worm and Lyme disease, he will be vaccinated including DHLPP, RABIES, , he will be getting HW prevention and flea and tick prevention. And he will receive a Home Again microchip and 30 days of free pet insurance.. Lake Haven will cover the adoption fee for the right Veteran, this handsome boy deserves the best . apply now at www.lakehavenrescue.org
