Bear's Story
Bear is a 5 month old male German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix breed puppy who was part of an "oops" litter.

Bear is a smart and confident puppy who meets new people with a wag of his tail. He is the type of dog who has never met a stranger. He is a moderate energy puppy. He is very good in the crate and sleeps through the night without needing to go outside.

Bear is a smart puppy with a strong food drive, which has been great for training. He knows sit, and is fairly consistent with down and climb. He comes running at the sound of the treat bag. He figured out how to work the dog door without instruction.

Bear loves chasing balls and sticks and enjoys playing tug with a rope toy. He can hold his own when playing with a much larger dog.

He is living on a farm with 3 adult German Shepherds. The big dogs are teaching him proper doggie manners. He is a typical puppy who loves his big brothers and sister. We feel he would be happiest in a home with a 4 legged companion, or a home where his people are around much of the time.

Bear is working on house training. As of 2 weeks of living in a foster home he doesn't yet give a strong signal when needing to go out, but does well when closely monitored.

We don't know how large Bear will be as an adult. He was the biggest of the 4 puppies in the litter. He is a quick maturing puppy who has long legs and big feet. At 17 weeks he weighed 34 pounds.

Bear has not been tested with children. He is not a very "mouthy" puppy and does not jump. We assume he would love having some little people to play with.

We have tested Bear with a barn cat. His behavior is improving with each test. He gets excited when he meets the cat but shows no aggression. We believe that that Bear is "cat workable". This means that we expect he can live with a dog savvy cat as long as his people have the time and patience for training.

To give him time to mature, we have not neutered Bear. There will be a neuter requirement in the adoption contract for a later date.

-------------------
Our Adoption Fees:
-------------------

*Dogs and puppies 12 months old or younger: $450

* Adult dogs over 12 months of age: $400

* Senior dogs over 7 years of age qualify for our "Seniors FUREVER" program! Seniors are special to us, so we offer two options:

(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $400 and this becomes a perpetual fee.
