Bear's Story

🐻 Meet Bear--the Alaskan Malamute who takes his name and his belly rubs very seriously.

Bear is a young adult, neutered male with approximately 50 pounds of fluff, energy, and complete goofball behavior. He is house-trained, microchipped, does well when left alone, and will politely stand by the door and whine when he needs to go outside.

Bear has lived successfully with dogs, cats, and children. He loves people, enjoys playing, and needs an active home that understands northern breeds and can give him plenty of exercise and attention.

He can be protective of his food around other animals and may growl if they get too close, so he should be fed separately and given space during meals. He has never bitten anyone. Bear is also currently behind on vaccinations, which his new family will need to update.

His current owner is facing a heartbreaking housing change and cannot take him along. This is not Bear's fault--he is deeply loved, and she wants to find a family prepared to make him a permanent part of their lives.

Bear's only nonnegotiable requirement? Belly rubs. Lots of them.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00
