Beans's Story

BASIC FACTS

Breed: Corgi/dachshund mix
Color: Tan
Age: 2 ½ years old
Gender: Spayed female
Size: Small, 22 pounds
House-trained: Yes, but does have accidents
Crate trained: Yes, but does not like the crate
Good with Kids: 8+
Good with Dogs: Yes, but only smaller dogs
Good with Cats: Yes
Concerns: Beans takes time to warm to new people, so adopter must give her time and space to feel comfortable

BIOGRAPHY
Meet Beans!
Beans was rescued from a shelter in New York. Due to this, she is skittish upon meeting new people but loves other dogs and cats. She came to the shelter in New York with her 6 five-month-old puppies and was very scared and protective over her pups.
Beans is very cautious when meeting new people. She will bark and growl when first meeting anyone, and it will take her a bit to warm up to people. It is imperative that her adopter understands this and gives her plenty of time and space to decompress. She is very playful and would love to have another dog to play with. When the weather is warm, she likes to run around in the yard. She has a very loud bark when she barks, so she would do better in a single-family home, rather than an apartment.
Beans is a very sweet girl, and she loves to cuddle with you on the couch or anywhere her person is. She would love to sleep in the big bed with her person as well and be a bed hog. She will need some practice walking on a leash and harness, because she wants to run, rather than walk. She also pulls on her leash, so she will need some practice with her walking routine, and it is critical that she walks with a harness.
Beans is a very active two and half year old, Beans would do best in a home with a fence yard to run and play with her possibly siblings.
Beans is very sneaky and won’t alert you when she needs to go outside for her business. She will sniff around and if you don't read her signals, she will have accidents in the house, so it’s best of if she is kept on a regular schedule. Beans loves to chew on things so be mindful about what is lying around (shoes, remotes, plastic things, etc.). She is also a “power chewer,” so Kong toys work best so that she can’t destroy them.
Beans is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and heartworm negative. Beans is also on anxiety and behavior medication because of her being super scared and her trust issues. She is being fostered in Dover, PA and is available for an adoption fee of $400.00.
If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.sophiasgracefoundation.org
