Beans's Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State. We are a local foster home based rescue.

Beans is a tender hearted guy who is dreaming of a home for the holidays. He would love to belong to a family that will include him in their plans. He loves going for walks and is a great little buddy in the car but his favorite thing is getting cozy on a pile of blankets next to his people. Beans doesn't like to go outside in the wet, windy weather and will use potty pads. He will need a patient home that understands Chihuahua behavior and be willing to enforce going potty outside.

Beans was recently attacked by another dog. Because of that we are asking for a home without other dogs so that Beans can feel safe and secure. We don't know if he would be ok with cats but he tries to chase squirrels so any cats in the home should have a safe place to observe Beans while he adapts to his new surroundings. Beans loves people and would enjoy children as long as they possess an understanding of how important it is to respect animals.

Beans recently received a Senior Wellness Exam with bloodwork. He also received a dental with extractions and had a tooth abscess repaired. Beans has been diagnosed with a heart murmur. It is recommended that this be monitored at his yearly wellness exams. Beans is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. He is 11 years old and weighs 10 pounds.

Please note, we have approximately a 200 mile adoption radius from Stanwood WA for our Senior Dogs. Save-A-Mutt may limit this distance based on the long term needs of this pet. We don’t adopt out of state except to the Vancouver BC area. We don’t ship dogs. Once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up their dog. For questions about this dog please call Elizabeth Woche, Senior and Special Needs Dog Coordinator, at 425-974-9479

Save-A-Mutt's Adoption Policy
Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly. We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient. Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
