BEAN's Story

BEAN IS AN ESCAPE ARTIST AND NEEDS AN EXPERIENCED, DILIGENT ADOPTER THAT LIVES IN AN APARTMENT OR HAS A DOUBLE GATED YARD. AS A YOUNG DOG THAT JUST CAME INTO OUR RESCUE HE IS NOT COMPLETELY HOUSEBROKEN AND IS STILL LEARNING TO WALK ON A LEASH. HE WOULD DO BEST IN A HOME WITHOUT CHILDREN AND THAT HAS AN EXISTING PLAYFUL DOG HIS SIZE (NO LARGE BREEDS).

Bean is a two-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix lap dog who is in search of his forever lap. Rescued along with his sister, Pumpkin, Bean is sweet and snuggly, athletic and playful, but a little more chill than his sister.

He loves people, and is very dog social. We would love for him to be adopted with his sister, but are open to placing him in a home with another playful dog similar in size. We do not believe Bean should be an only dog.

Bean is an escape artist and needs an experienced, diligent adopter with a secure home and yard. He has made great strides in his housebreaking and basic obedience, but still exhibits some leash reactivity to other dogs. He will need a savvy adopter who will provide plenty of structure and training to help him become a good canine citizen. He is eager to please but sensitive, and needs to be guided with gentle corrections. We suggest an adult home or a home with older children.
---
If you are interested in adopting BEAN please fill out our adoption application on www.therescuetrain.org. The Rescue Train's Adoption Policy
Ready To Adopt? Our adoption process is designed to help us set up safe and successful adoptions. The majority of the time we only do local adoptions in the City of Los Angeles. If you do not live in the LA City area please check with us before filling out an application by e-mailing us @ info@therescuetrain.org. We Take The Guess Work Out! We invest a lot of time, money and love into each animal in our care to help the adopter know what kind of pet they are adopting. Unless there is a medical reason all our animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and many of our dogs have had over $2000 of obedience training in our "Trained For Life" program. Step 1) View pets online: www.therescuetrain.org Step 2) Submit Application for the Pet of Your Choice Our adoption application is not meant to be an invasion of privacy but a tool to help us find out if one of our dogs or cats would fit happily into your home and lifestyle. We spend a lot of time and funds to get to know our pets and your application helps set both you and them up for a successful adoption. Step 3) Meet the Pet By appointment only. If your application is approved, you will be contacted to meet the pet at a convenient time. We ask that everyone who will be living with the pet attend the meeting. Also, for dogs if you have an existing dog we will introduce the dogs during the adoption process. Step 4) Home Check While a home visit is required prior to final placement, it does not guarantee adoption. We like to see where our pets will be living to make sure that they will be in a safe and secure environment. Often we can help with unforeseen health risks and help secure yards and fences that first time owners might miss. Step 5) Adoption Contract The adoption contract is a legal binding contract between the adopter and our organization. If, for any reason, the adoption of one of our pets DOES NOT work out, you MUST return the animal to The Rescue Train. Step 6) Tax Deductible Donation There is a minimum, tax deductible, non-refundable donation of $250.00 per dog, $500.00 for "Trained For Life Dogs", $125 per cat or $200 for a pair of cats. The donation helps us recoup a small fraction of our pet care costs. Step 7) Delivery of Your New Family Member We come with education and helpful hints to help things go smoothly and take the guess work out of what to expect when bringing your new pet home. Each pet has a team of people behind him/her and we are here to be a support system if you should need us.
