Bea Arthur's Story

Bea Arthur is a sweet, senior soul who absolutely lives for her outdoor time-especially between 5-7 pm, when she can roll in the grass and keep an eye on all the neighborhood happenings. It's her favorite way to unwind and soak up the world around her!

Bea has a wonderfully calm, easygoing personality. She enjoys her walks and is steadily building up her stamina, but once she's back home, she's happiest curled up near you-or better yet, right in your lap. She's the perfect mix of "let's go for a stroll" and "let's cuddle on the couch."

She does great with routine and independence. Bea likes her crate, is also comfortable relaxing in her foster space, and has shown she's potty trained-going out every few hours and even holding it for longer stretches when needed.

Bea is confident in public settings and takes new environments in stride. While she hasn't yet met her foster's resident dogs due to quarantine, the shelter shared that she previously enjoyed spending time with her yard-mates. She's also been noted to do well with cats, making her a wonderful option for a multi-pet household.

Recently, Bea was diagnosed with Cushing's disease, which is currently being well managed with a simple daily medication. Senior dogs can sometimes feel intimidating, but Bea is a great reminder that age and medical needs don't define quality of life. She's sweet, chill, and lives a very "normal" day-to-day life-often surprising people with just how easy she is to care for.

Bea Arthur is backed by The Happy Pet Project's Medical & Adopter Support teams, who will help set her adopters up for success every step of the way!
