Bayou's Story

Meet Bayou!

Bayou is a 14-month-old Rottweiler who is about as goofy as they come—and he's looking for a family ready to laugh, love, and embrace life with one very big puppy!

Bayou didn't have the easiest start. After being dumped in New Mexico, he was hit by a car and spent much of his puppyhood recovering and undergoing surgeries. While other puppies his age were busy learning about the world, Bayou was focused on healing.

But those days are behind him now. This boy has fully recovered, and he's ready to make up for lost time!

Because Bayou spent so much of his puppyhood in recovery, he still has the mentality of a much younger puppy—think six-month-old puppy brain in a big Rottweiler body. He's silly, bouncy, curious, and still figuring out how the world works. Bayou is also slow to mature, so his future family will need to bring plenty of patience, realistic expectations, and, most importantly, a really good sense of humor!

Bayou is crate trained, potty trained, and does well with other animals. Because of his enthusiastic, bouncy nature, he's a bit too much for small children right now, but he could do well in a home with children ages 12 and up.

More than anything, Bayou would love a family to call his own—people who will include him, laugh at his antics, continue helping him grow, and appreciate him for exactly who he is: a lovable, goofy, oversized puppy who got a late start at simply being a dog.

Bayou is eligible for our Supported Adoption, which means his new family won't be doing this alone. His adoption includes:

Free lifetime boarding
Follow-up private training lessons
All of his medical care covered
Lifetime support
His training equipment
A small bag of his current diet to help ease his transition into his new home

Bayou comes with an entire support system committed to helping him and his future family succeed together.

If you're looking for a perfectly polished adult dog, Bayou probably isn't your guy just yet. But if you're ready for a big-hearted Rottweiler with puppy energy, endless potential, and enough personality to keep you laughing every day, Bayou may be exactly who you've been waiting for.

Ohana Rottweiler Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process includes a formal application, followed by a meet-and-greet to ensure compatibility between the adopter and the dog. If approved, adopters participate in a guided lesson to help prepare them for the dog’s needs and set them up for success. Once finalized, we personally deliver the dog to the adoptive home to ensure a smooth and supported transition. This structured process allows us to prioritize proper placement, responsible ownership, and long-term success for both the dog and the adopter. We welcome all potential adopters and evaluate each application on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is to ensure the best possible match between each dog and their future home, taking into account the dog’s needs, the adopter’s lifestyle, and the long-term success of the placement. We remain open and inclusive while prioritizing responsible and appropriate matches for every animal in our care.
