Baxter's Story

ADOPT ME
Baxter is one of our long-term adoptable dogs. While he doesn’t have an official diagnosis, he does have a neurological disorder that causes him to spin in circles. He is also blind in one eye.
Our best guess is that Baxter has mild hydrocephalus. At this stage in his life, he does not require medication and has a wonderful quality of life.
Baxter has been with us for THREE years!!! He’s currently living in a foster home where he is an only dog. He LOVES being an only dog but does well with other dogs.
Ideally, he would be adopted into a home without other dogs. He loves a quiet home. However, a home that has 1-2 dogs will be fine for Baxter if the other dogs are mellow.
Baxter is six years old, is approximately 40 pounds & has the magical ability to melt hearts. If you’re looking for a best friend, you will find it in Baxter!
Eager to please?
*Crate-trained but does well when left free in the house
*Good with cats
*Loves to sleep on a bed near you but is content wherever he is when he’s in a calm home.
*Enjoys slow walks
*Makes eye contact with the people in his life to show that he’s a good boy It’s how he captures hearts
Baxter will need someone in his life who will continue our work of managing his veterinary care. It’s necessary to keep track of his neurological & physical health, and at least one wellness exam per year that includes bloodwork. Homes with children are OK but 12+ years or older. A low-key home that’s not very busy would suit Baxter best!
If you’re interested in adopting Baxter, be sure to fill out our pre-adoption application here: https://www.greenheartrescue.com/contact (link in Bio).
Our adoption process starts with an application. If it’s approved, we will contact you for a meet & greet. If all continues to look promising, we will schedule a home check and then will require a month's trial before finalizing adoption.
Please network to spread the word about Baxter!
#greenheartrescue #savingspecialneedsdogs #adoptdontshop #adoptsaspecialneedsdog #boiseidaho
