Batal, the Kind Courageous Hero's Story

My name is Batal.
When my rescuers found me, I saw the look on their faces, a mix of shock and deep sympathy.
Half of my face was gone, and I was emaciated and weak.
They rushed me to the vet hospital, where the doctors discovered I’d been shot at close range. The bullets shattered half my face and jaw. My chances of survival were low, and euthanasia was suggested.
But tabanni, the animal rescue organization in Jordan that found me, asked the doctors to wait just one more day.
The next morning, I surprised everyone. I had started eating and even managed to stand up. After a few days of care, good food, and long discussions between my rescuers and the vets, it was decided that I would undergo surgery to repair my face.
Hours later, the doctors came out smiling relaying that the operation was a success.
I spent a few weeks at the hospital regaining my strength before moving to a boarding facility. My vision is now limited because of the gunshot wound, but I’ve learned to find my way around just fine. Despite all the cruelty I faced, and the fact that I’m an older boy, around 9 years old, I’m jolly, clever, and very loving. My kind, forgiving and gentle nature has not been broken. I’m neutered, vaccinated, and currently in training.
My name is Batal, which means hero in Arabic because my rescuers truly believe it took a hero to make a comeback like mine.
