Unfortunately, changes in their work schedules mean they can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves.<br/><br/>BASIL IS STILL WITH HIS ORIGINAL FAMILY, AND WE WOULD LOVE TO KEEP HIM OUT OF BOARDING AND MOVE HIM DIRECTLY INTO A FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME! <br/><br/>We are hoping to find someone interested in potentially adopting Basil who can welcome him into their home while we complete his intake and get his veterinary care up to date.<br/><br/> MEET BASIL!<br/> 6-year-old male Basset Hound<br/> Approximately 50 pounds<br/> Neutered<br/> Beautiful apricot and white coat<br/> Laid-back and affectionate<br/> Loves sniffing around, lounging and jerky treats<br/> Housebroken with potty breaks approximately every 4 hours<br/> Good with other dogs, although he can occasionally be dominant<br/> Good with cats and generally ignores them<br/> Walks on a leash<br/> Not a fence jumper or digger<br/> Enjoys baths and being brushed<br/> Not currently crate trained<br/> WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES BASIL NEED?<br/><br/>Basil is a pretty easygoing gentleman who enjoys the simple things in life. <br/><br/>Give him a comfortable place to nap, some tasty treats, a yard to sniff around and plenty of attention, and he'll be a happy boy!<br/><br/>He does have some boundaries when it comes to nail trims. Basil has bitten during nail trims in the past, so he needs an adult-only home that understands his handling needs. He currently does well at a grooming facility that uses a protective cone and grooming hammock.<br/>He also needs someone who can provide regular bathroom breaks and help him adjust to his new routine.<br/><br/>His veterinary care needs to be brought up to date, including heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and a neuter. <br/><br/> WHY FOSTER-TO-ADOPT?<br/>Because Basil is still with his original family, we have an opportunity to make his transition as smooth as possible!<br/>Rather than bringing him into our rescue and placing him in expensive boarding while we search for a family, we would love to find someone who is already interested in making him a permanent part of their life.<br/><br/>A foster-to-adopt home would allow us to bring Basil directly into our care while giving him the opportunity to settle into what could become his forever home.<br/>And for Basil, that means fewer changes, less stress and a chance to start bonding with his future family right away. <br/><br/><br/>He's spent nearly his entire life with the same family.
