Bart's Story
Meet Bart! He is a beautiful German Shepherd mix with a heart that's bigger than he is! Not only is he loving, but he is a loyal protector and companion as well. Bart was found starving and desperate for food, trapped at a known dumping site for dogs. He had truly been cast away. He went to a shelter and was then rescued from being next in line for euthanasia. His
story isn't over yet and he has so much more love to give! Bart is very affectionate and gives lots of hugs and kisses. He loves car rides and would make a great adventure buddy, balanced out with sufficient chillax time on the couch or laying out in the yard. As the shepherd part of him suggests, he is incredibly smart and responds well to training, especially when treats are involved! Bart longs to love and be loved, like so many of us do. He deserves a wonderful life, and would make a great addition to any family to share it with.

Adopter requirements for Bart: Shepherds are not known for being good around cats unless you take the time to TRAIN them. Bart also seems to be dog selective, but is not aggressive. He will give a polite warning growl when he has had enough from another dog. He does this with Lil Bubs all the time since he is a puppy.

Vetting: All of our dogs are microchipped and UTD on vaccines: Distemper-Parvo w/Lepto, Bordetella, and Rabies (if age appropriate). They receive monthly flea/heartworm prevention while in our care and receive fecal and heartworm testing. Most of our dogs are de-wormed at least twice unless we receive negative fecal results. They are spayed or neutered or pending a spay or neuter (unless age or a health condition precludes this).

Adoption Application: If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website for more information and to fill out an adoption application. A meet and greet cannot be scheduled until we receive and adoption application. No exceptions.

Foster-to-Adopt Program: All of our dogs are available to foster prior to adoption. This means the dog can stay are you now instead of waiting! During this time, Castaways will continue to provide remaining medical vetting and any supplies you might need! This includes but is not limited to: food, crates, bowls, collars/leashes, toys, etc. View our forms and policies page for more information.

Unsure about making a commitment just yet? Please consider fostering until you find the right pupper for you, especially if you are a first-time dog owner. With fostering, instead of saving one dog, you can help save 10 dogs! https://form.jotform.com/201795240513147
