Bart's Story

Meet Bart - a fun-loving, toy-chasing guy who's ready to be your new best friend!

At 7 years old and 67 pounds, Bart offers a great balance of playful energy and mature companionship. He still has plenty of pep in his step-especially when there's a ball involved-but he also has the experience and manners of an adult dog.

At the shelter, Bart can come across as a bit aloof, but once he's out and away from that environment, he warms up nicely and shows more of his personality.

Bart is great in the car and makes a wonderful travel buddy, ready to hop in and go wherever the adventure takes you. On leash, he can pull a bit, especially in exciting environments like the shelter, but he settles down nicely once he's away and is very manageable overall.

This handsome boy is both food and toy motivated, which makes him a joy to interact with and train. He already knows "sit" and is eager to learn more-especially if treats are involved! He absolutely loves chasing balls and will happily run after them again and again. He's also great about trading, whether for another toy or a high-value treat.

Bart has shown signs of being housetrained, which is a great head start for his future home. He's also shown interest in other dogs-he may bark with excitement and wag his tail, but he's able to be walked around them.

When it comes to people, Bart seems to enjoy the company of kids, but he can come on a bit strong with his enthusiasm and may accidentally knock over smaller children. Because of this, he'd likely do best in a home with older kids who can match his energy.

If you're looking for a playful, loyal companion who will keep you smiling with his joyful energy, Bart might just be your perfect match.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
