Barney came to Rescued Rescue from a local shelter after his stray hold was completed. Over the past 5 weeks we have been caring for Barney Blu and while we do not know anything about his past we have learned that he is the sweetest cuddle bug that just wants to find his forever home in his golden years. After Barney’s initial exam with a veterinarian we learned that he had some fluid on his lungs, his teeth were in terrible condition (he had a recent dental and most of his teeth have been extracted), he has arthritis, he can walk and does better on carpet but at times he will drag his back legs. Barney Blu is heartworm positive, he has completed a course of Doxycycline and has begun his monthly preventative which is extremely important he continues. In addition to his prevention Barney takes other daily medications to help with fluid and stiffness. He has old man hearing and vision changes therefore a home without small children would be best as he can be startled easily. Barney has not been neutered, for the most part he will go potty outside if offered frequent outside time. He does fine around other dogs and cats as long as they are not looking for a playmate. Barney went on a road trip recently and did great in the car. Barney needs a family that has time and love to give. He is doing much better learning how to eat soft food with the teeth he has left but it can take him a little longer until he fully gets the hang of it. Whether his remaining days are few or many caring for a senior dog that has a soft personality and sweet demeanor feeds the soul like nothing else can. This information will be verified by your vet. If your pet(s) are not up to date on their annual shots, please make an appointment with your vet and take care of this prior to submitting an application. We will not approve any application until all vetting on current pets within the home is completed. After a vet check has been approved, a home visit will be scheduled with the pup(s) so that the new pup(s) can be introduced to the new family and environment.
