Barney's Story

Meet Barney

Barney is a 4–5 year old Husky/Pit mix with about 60 lbs of pure muscle, squishy face wrinkles, signature “woo woo woo's,” and a whole lot of love to give

He may be a little cross-eyed, but don't let that fool you—this boy still carries himself like he's Mr. Steal Yo Girl His goofy facial expressions just add to his charm, and once you meet him, you'll see how special he really is.

Barney is crate trained and (mostly) potty trained, walks well on a leash, and absolutely lives for cuddle time. He's the kind of dog that just wants to be near his person—whether that's hanging out on the couch, going for a walk, or just keeping you company around the house. His loyalty runs deep, and once he bonds with you, you've got a best friend for life. Although if we're being honest- he doesn't really know what the word stranger means and loves everyone he meets, right off the rip!

He prefers to be the king of his castle, so Barney will need to be the only pet in the home. He truly thrives when he doesn't have to share his people and can soak up all the love and attention for himself.

And fair warning—he's got a little Houdini in him (thank you, Husky genes ). A secure 6 ft fence is ideal... although let's be honest, if Barney really wanted to, he might still find a way! The good news is his foster has learned all his tricks, and we'll make sure you feel confident managing his curious, adventurous side.

Barney hasn't had an easy life. He spent time out on his own as a stray, just trying to survive, and then over a year sitting in a shelter waiting for someone to choose him. Despite everything he's been through, he hasn't lost his ability to love. He greets people with sweetness, leans in for affection, and still believes his person is out there.

He doesn't need a perfect home—just a patient, loving one. Someone who sees past his quirks, laughs at his goofy personality, and gives him the stability he's never truly had.

Barney is so ready to leave his past behind and finally just be someone's dog... someone's best friend, adventure buddy, and couch companion all in one.

Could that someone be you?

Click on more about us to fill out our adoption application.

A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue for your new fur baby! If you are interested in one of our animals, please fill out an application on our website at www.rejoycefulrescue.com for that animal. Please allow up to 72 business hours after submitting your application for a response. Our application process is as follows: 1. After your application has been received and reviewed, the foster parent of the animal will reach out to see if you have any specific questions regarding the animal. Prior to setting up a meet and greet, we will complete a vet check to ensure all animals currently in your home are up to date on vaccines, spayed or neutered and in good health. 2. Once your application has passed a vet check, we will set up a time for a meet and greet. The meet and greet is no-obligation and simply allow the foster to meet you and for you to meet them! We always host our meet and greets on a "neutral ground" if there are other animals and ensure proper introductions are done to allow safety for all. 3. Last but not least, if we both decide you might be the perfect furever family, we will reach out to set up a time for a home check. The purpose of the home check is simply to ensure the animal is heading to a safe environment. If necessary, our foster may point out items that can cause health issues or potential safety issues. 4. Once this process has been completed and approved, our finalization team will prepare an electronic contract for your signature confirming the adoption. Our adoption fee is $450 for dogs and $200 for cats. We ask, whenever possible, the hand off of your new fur family member is to be done at a local Petsmart to allow us to receive additional charity dollars to help our foundation. Your foster family will provide more information on this. We appreciate your patience during the process and pride ourselves on the best possible placement for our fosters. Please note, our applications are not "first come, first serve" and we will review each application equally to ensure the best home is selected for our animals. If you have any questions at any time, please email info@rejoycefulrescue.com.
