Barkley A061198's Story

Barkley is a very nice dog, in spite of having been through some things, being one of the dogs displaced by the Gann Fire. This sweet boy certainly deserves a fresh start in a loving home.

That traumatic experience might explain why he seems a bit anxious in the strange, chaotic shelter environment. He isn't freaking out or being reactive, just on high alert, with his tail held low—until he sees another dog. Then the tail pops up as he goes to make friends. We can't help but smile at his helicopter tail when he gets excited to meet a new friend.

He likes people, as well. He does jump up for attention and hugs; as he's not particularly large or aggressive about it, older children are probably fine, but care should be taken with very small children.

Though we can't make guarantees, he keeps his inner kennel clean and may be easy to housetrain. We don't have information on his attitude toward cats at this time. Barkley will need to be neutered before he can go home with you.
