This 2-year-old Blue Heeler mix weighs 55 pounds (as of 10/7/26). His ears are larger than life, and believe it or not, his heart is even bigger!

Originally from Mississippi, Banjo was adopted into a loving home in New England, where he's been enjoying life on a farm. Sadly, due to financial circumstances, his family has made the difficult decision to find him a new home. Banjo is very much loved, and they want nothing more than for him to continue living his best life.

So, what's Banjo like? In a word, FRIENDLY! This happy, affectionate boy has never met a stranger. His only fault? He wants to say hello to absolutely everyone he meets!

Banjo loves spending time with his owner out in the fields, especially when he gets to ride along on the ATV. But he's just as happy heading into town for a little shopping at the big-box stores. Apparently, Banjo believes every outing is an opportunity to make new friends!

Banjo lives indoors with his family and is housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and enjoys car rides. Road trip, anyone? He's also done well with other dogs in a foster home, although he prefers a little privacy at mealtime. We don't know whether he's spent time around children.

As a Blue Heeler mix, Banjo has a strong prey drive, so a home without cats or chickens is a must. He'd love an active family with plenty of opportunities to run, explore, and enjoy the outdoors—especially if you're willing to bring him along on your adventures!

Banjo has so much love to give and is ready to share it with his next family. If you're looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion with a big personality, even bigger ears, and a heart of gold, Banjo just might be your guy!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Banjo, you must fill out an adoption application. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
