Banjo's Story

Meet Banjo — The Big-Hearted Goofball
*Available through Foster to Adopt*

Banjo is a staff and volunteer favorite. This boy is full of personality, love, and that fun, happy energy that makes you instantly smile. With his sturdy build and those soft blue eyes, he’s the kind of dog who turns heads in the best way.

He lives for toys and yard time. Banjo is a true fetch partner — the kind who will sprint after the ball, bring it right back, and look up at you like, "Again?" He also bounces the ball right back to you like a true gentleman. He’s goofy, joyful, and so expressive when he plays. He also adores hoses and pool time in the warmer summer months.

Banjo knows his "sit," takes treats gently, and loves leaning in for affection. Banjo can be dog selective and prefers female pups over males. A meet and greet is recommended if you have another pup at home.

Banjo is available through Foster-to-Adopt, which means you can take him home and make sure he is a great match for your family before making things official.

A Volunteer Perspective — Banjo’s Doggy Day Out
Banjo kicked off his Doggy Day Out like a rockstar, jumping right into the car and loving the ride. He enjoyed hanging his head out the window and checking in from the console before heading right back to window-watching. Our first stop was backyard playtime, where Banjo happily played lots of fetch and claimed a special blue chew toy he proudly carried around. While playing, he always stayed close for affection, leaning in for pets and wedging himself between my legs for cuddles. He even jumped into the pool briefly before deciding the water was too cold. After playtime, we headed out for a walk. Banjo was eager to go and brought his blue toy along. He was strong and enthusiastic on leash, but friendly and social, happily greeting a neighbor and accepting pets. He didn’t seem bothered by dogs barking behind fences as we passed by. Back at the house, Banjo settled well indoors, relaxing with a chew and behaving nicely for about an hour. He only jumped on the furniture once and gladly got down once corrected showing how responsive and trainable he is. We wrapped up the day at a coffee shop, where Banjo’s love for people really shined. He wanted to greet everyone who came in and seemed genuinely puzzled when someone didn’t stop to say hello. Time outside the shelter showed exactly who Banjo is — a fun, affectionate, people-loving dog with a big heart and plenty of personality.
