Bane's Story

A month and a half ago that handsome face you see was unrecognizable! Bane was found on the side of the road emaciated, covered in blood from painful, itchy lesions and had almost no hair on his body. We were grateful that a Good Samaritan picked him up, but with no where open on the weekend to take him, he still ended up in a life or death situation. Luckily, we got a phone call begging for help to save this poor boy and we knew he belonged with us.

Bane had a severe case of Demodex mange and he'd been left untreated and uncared for beyond any amount of time we can even imagine...and then he was discarded. When we first brought Bane home he was 58lbs and a scared, exhausted dog who was chronically itchy and painful. We immediately started treatment and he slept for what felt like days. Likely the first time in a long time he had any relief to rest, with a full belly, fluffy blankets and safety. Slowly but surely we started to see this giant boy come to life! His feet no longer hurt every time he took a step. He wasn't bleeding constantly from healing scabs. His gorgeous coat was ever so slightly growing back and we met a whole new dog, one that had a reason to live!

Bane is now 73lbs of American Bully perfection with fur! We guesstimate him to be around 2 years old. If you like big headed, short bodied tanks as your lifelong companions then this is your dude! Looks aren't all he has! He comes with a personality that steals your heart. He's a goof ball with a giant smile! He's happy to fill in for your weighted blanket on cold nights...or any night. :-) He has yet to meet a stranger; despite what he endured and how humans failed him, Bane thinks people are everything wonderful. He's not built for the heat and his stamina is challenged on the daily, but put a squirrel in front of this guy and suddenly he's a Border Collie. Bane has done amazing with every dog he's met. His best friend is a 75lb Dane mix who will rough and tumble with him until the cows come home. However, he also loves his small dog housemates but sometimes they ask for a bit of a Bane break when things get crazy. He's respectful of corrections and minds his business with dogs who don't want to engage. When there aren't other dogs around or stimulus, Bane is a very chill guy! He's young and stays excited when the energy is high, but when it's just him and his person, he's happy to hang, independently romp in the yard or snooze on the cool tile floor. He would thrive as a single pup or with another easy going, doesn't mind a bull in a china shop joining the family kinda dog. Cats...well we're still working on that. Bane gets extremely excited when meeting cats but has not acted aggressively. However, he will chase them if they run.

Bane is fully potty trained and does great in a crate. He loves to swim, adventure and ride in the car! Bane also does very well on a leash if it's routine, but again, with new, exciting stimuli, hold on. He will need continued work with leash training and recall. He is very attached to his people but that stubborn Bully pops up sometimes and he's cruising along with ears turned off. Bane knows how to sit and loves to play fetch. There are endless amazing things to say about this boy; he's changed our lives as much as we've changed his! We can't wait for him to find the perfect family to give him the spoiled, forever home he deserves! If he's the big headed Bully you've been dreaming about, reach out to us to meet our good boy, Bane!

Save Them All Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
All adopters are required to complete an adoption application. In order for an adoption application to be approved, we require all pets in the home to be up to date on core vaccines (distemper and rabies) as well as flea, tick, and heartworm preventative. We do our best to match each animal with their perfect family. While some adopters may apply for a certain animal, they may not be the right fit for that animal's needs. We work closely with our adopters and want to act as a resource after adoption to make sure all transitions go smoothly.
