We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Bandito before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: 5 years old (born March 2021)

*WEIGHT: 63 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: he’s a Velcro boy, I wouldn’t say he needs a fence, but if no fence then an active family and daily walks

*COAT TYPE: soft curly low-shedding coat. He will need regular brushing and grooming every 8-10 weeks to keep his coat from matting (approximately $120/groom).

*ENERGY LEVEL: Medium energy. He barks a little when meeting a new person but warms up very quickly.

*DOGS: Yes! Bandito has been introduced to the resident Doodles in his foster home and they get along great! He's very content without a dog nearby and would be fine with or without another dog in his new home. He likes to play fetch with toys one on one. He enjoys his one-on-one time with people, and especially loves kids!

*CATS: he doesn’t seem to care about two resident cats.

*KIDS: Yes! His foster has two small boys (3 years & 6 years). He's not aggressive and does not jump. He's not too big or awkward with small, younger children.

*CAR: He's done well in the car, and happily loads himself in.

*CRATE: He does not use a crate, and has been left alone with the resident dogs to roam the house for 5-7 hours with no issue. He doesn’t get into things, on to furniture, or counter surf.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He has had no accidents in the house and will go stand by the back door to go outside.

*LEASH: He does not pull, does great and gets excited when the leash comes out.

*AT VET: Nervous but I think it's due to him becoming more comfortable with the many changes he's going through.

*WITH GROOMING: He doesn’t mind being brushed. We have not taken him to the groomer but expect he will do fine.

Handsome Bandito is a 5 year old male Labradoodle who was surrendered to IDOG by his family who loved him very much. His owners felt he wasn’t getting the love and attention he deserves.

His prior owner said this about him:

Bandito walks well on a leash, stays nearby when he is off leash, and loves running and playing fetch outside. He is long since out of the puppy phase, and I haven't seen him chewing anything destructively in years. He likes to run around with an empty plastic water bottle and make it crinkle. He is gentle with everyone, people and animals alike. He has never lived with a cat, but he does not bother much with a cat when he meets one. He is a calm though somewhat clumsy fellow, with a tremendous need for attention and affection. He was deeply bonded to my late wife, and he needs to be in a home where he can be someone's favorite dog again.

His foster family loves Bandito and has this to say about him:
He would do well as an only dog and also would be happy to have another dog to play with. He loves to be by your side, playing inside with all of his toys.

He does not have a notable single bad habit. He readily eats his dog food and loves treats. He will eat any food. He knows basic commands such as sit and stay. He enjoys staying close to you and loves to lean his head against you for a doggy hug or to scratch his head. He'll likely be at your feet or by your side as much as he is allowed. Perfect work from home companion!

We feel the ideal type of home for Bandito is:
-He could be the only dog, or have a companion.
-Ideally someone that is home more often than not, as he loves company and will be your shadow.

Adjectives that describe Bandito:
-Affectionate
-Playful
-Sweet
-Calm
-Gentle
-Loving

Activities he enjoys:
*Running around with kids
*Playing with toys
*Running with his foster dogs
*Keeping your feet warm from a home office
*Being outside with people
*Going to kids’ sports games

A few ‘needs work’ items for Bandito:
-nothing, he’s amazing!

Bandito is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies), dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative.

ADOPTION FEE: $600 adoption fee

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR BANDITO-MARYLAND, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
