Bambi's Story

Background:
Bambi is a pure Pom and just passed her 6th birthday. She is spayed and has all her vaccinations and will be heartworm negative in the spring. We treated her for heartworm as the prior owner kept her outside and hence the reason she had heartworm.

She has never had puppies and she loves humans, can live with dogs or cats. In the rescue world we call this a no drama dog. She has special needs and our vet never mentioned this until we asked him. We are very disappointed with his lack of information to our rescue group.

The foster home (who has 3 Pom's herself ) mentioned that she walked with a very high step and appear to have a hard time seeing outside at night. We asked the vet who examined and spayed her to clarify this new information. His only report back to us said it was neurological and would not get any worse. We are guessing and with doing research we found possible answers. The prance could be one of two possibilities.

Dr Google told us that she could have had an accident such as being stepped on or it could be genetic. We were told by the vet she would have to have an MRI to understand the cause and MRI's are 2K at Cornell University. We were told it would not change anything but it would tell us why.

Let's get back to her great points of being Bambi:
She prances and likes all dogs and cats. She is no drama kind of gal. She is loving the freedom on a backyard and explores each corner. We brush her and she is okay with being brushed but likes short durations of hair care.

She will use the grass in the backyard and also can use a pee pad. At this time - in her foster home she is not making the pee pads all the time. She may need to wear diapers if this does not change. She will tell you she has to go out by spinning.

She is 6 lbs and loves to be held and cuddled. She loves to eat! She loves everything you put in front of her - she is a good eater. She is very quiet and does not bark. She follows you and is right by your side. Bambi is very cute and loving the new life that she has acquired. It was our vet tech in NC for saving this dog. Bambi was brought to our vet hospital by a client in NC. The vet tech told the following information to our rescue group. The finder said send her to a good group to have a great family. This is the path of freedom, love and helping those that can not speak for themselves.

We are open to adoptions outside of Rochester, NY as we do have the opportunity to enlist Pilots N Paws to fly her to you. She is a beautiful soul and deserves everything in her future. Is she disabled? Not really, she just walks with high step and at night may not see as well.

Adoption application at duffysfriends.org. Follow and copy this link:
https://duffysfriends.org

Donation is $300.00 to replace the cost of spay and heartworm treatment to save dear Bambi. We are located in Rochester, NY and feel older children will be best as the little tots may step on her.
