Bambi's Story

🐾 Meet Bambi 🐾

Bambi is a tiny Miniature Dachshund estimated to be around 4 years old and weighing just 7 pounds. She came to us from a backyard breeder seizure case where 74 dogs were rescued, and she is slowly learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.

Bambi can be very squirmy and nervous at first, which is understandable given that she was not well socialized early in life. She will need a patient and understanding home willing to give her time to adjust and build trust. With consistency and kindness, dogs like Bambi often make incredible progress once they realize they are safe.
Bambi previously lived with many other dogs and does well with canine companions. She has not been tested with cats. To ensure a calm environment while she gains confidence, we require that she go to a home with children 12 years or older.

Bambi is spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

When she arrived, she tested positive for hookworms, whipworms, and giardia. She has completed two rounds of treatment with Drontal and Panacur, and our veterinarian recommends a third treatment in June 2026. This final treatment will be provided to her adopter.

Bambi may need a little extra patience, but for the right person, helping her come out of her shell will be incredibly rewarding.

🐾 Adoption Application (first step in our process):
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog
📧 Questions?
