Balto's Story

Available for adoption or foster to adopt!
Meet Balto!

Positive: Balto is a nice older boy who can be an affectionate and very cuddly with him humans when he learns to trust and get to know them. He is the type of dog that can be active but also is happy hanging out with you on the couch in the evening. He gets along fine with other dogs and currently lives with multiple. We think he could be a good second dog in the home with a well matched pup. He’s happy when he’s on walks, being outside and hanging out on the patio with you. He is an older boy but we find that doesn’t stop him as he still has that young energy about him. He’s a foodie and will never say no to a snack as he is pretty motivated by treats. He is a malamute mix and has that beautiful thick coat, this would require maintenance and brushing.

Things he needs support on: Balto has collar sensitivity and needs to be with someone who has a gentle approach while being able to work with him on this issue. He can be uncomfortable with people being near his collar area and has reacted in the past but hasn’t in some time. He also has shown a bit of resource guarding with food or other high value items. He is an active breed and will someone who can provide him the mental and physical stimulation he needs. He will need a home who can let him relax, decompress and come out of his shell a bit.

Location: Langley, BC
Age: 8 Years Old
Size: 70lbs
Gender: Male
Vaccinations and spay/neuter: Vaccinations are UTD and he is neutered.
Potty trained: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Kid friendly: We think he would do best in a home with no kids due to his collar sensitivity.
Dog friendly: Yes, he currently is living with other dogs and has done well.
