Bailey's Story

Bailey (aka "Piglet," "Muppet")<br/><br/>Meet Bailey, a curious, affectionate, and mellow senior girl around seven years old who weighs twenty-four pounds! She's moderate energy — happy to spend the day snoozing with her favorite person, but also up for a two-mile walk in the woods just to sniff everything (her foster says she really walks them, not the other way around!).<br/><br/>Bailey is definitely people-oriented and adjusts to new settings with remarkable ease — she crawled right into her foster's lap the moment they met, and did the same with every family member she encountered. She navigates newness with curiosity rather than fear.<br/><br/>She's potty trained and lets her people know when she needs to go out, and she's crate trained too — just point, and she happily heads right in, treating it as her safe space. She's great on a leash, occasionally led by her excellent nose, but respectful of a gentle tug when it's time to move along. She's picking up on "this way" and "let's go."<br/><br/>Bailey's days are full of walks, sniffing adventures, naps, and family time — she especially loves being out in nature. She can be handled for baths with a little gentle encouragement, and she's a big fan of sardines and salmon at dinnertime!<br/><br/>Bailey would be an ideal companion for an older adopter or someone who works from home — gentle, mellow, and happy to be her shadow around the house. She's adaptable enough for the city but truly lights up in nature, and she'd do best in a family or couple's home on one level, or with minimal stairs.<br/><br/>**What her foster says about her:**<br/>"Regardless of any history of neglect, she has the sweetest disposition and simply wants to be loved. We love how curious she is and how much she enjoys everything from food to affection to inspecting chipmunk dwellings."<br/><br/>Bailey is currently on thyroid medication and being treated for a mild yeast overgrowth — both manageable and being addressed with ongoing vet care. She previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before traveling north.<br/><br/>**INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?**<br/>To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.<br/><br/>Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
