This 65-pound, 4-year-old Shepherd mix was surrendered by his owner and traveled all the way from Northern Ontario to Southern Ontario after his community was evacuated due to forest fires in 2025. With the help of our rescue's dog road trip mission, Badger was brought to safety and love, and now he’s ready to find his perfect match.<br/><br/>Badger is more than just a survivor, he’s a sweet, loyal soul who bonds deeply with his people. His foster lovingly calls him a “shadow” because he follows them everywhere, always wanting to be close. He’s a snuggly sidekick through and through, happiest when he’s by your side.<br/><br/>Though he’s been through a lot, Badger has a huge heart full of love to give. Badger would be ideal in a home with someone retired , semi retired or home often and is looking for a companion to enjoy the days and nights with. <br/><br/>He’s not a fan of cats, his instinct to chase but has never hurt a cat, so a cat-free home is best. <br/><br/>Outdoors, Badger shines. He loves swimming in ponds and is slowly building curiosity about the pool at his foster home.
