Baby's Story

Recovering 'Stage 5 Clinger' seeks home to bring immense joy, agility, and love to a forever home!

Meet Baby!

Age: 1 year old
Weight: 40 lbs
Height: 16 inches (floor to shoulder)
Energy Level: Medium-High

Compatibility: Great with dogs! Cat-curious (just wants to play). Good with kids given slow, proper introductions.

Hi there! My name is Baby, and I am currently living the good life in my foster home. I have learned incredibly fast that I love domestic life, and I am officially ready to find my forever family!

When I first arrived, I was a total "Stage Five Clinger" — I wouldn't leave my fosters side for a second. But look at me now! Ive grown so much confidence and am totally okay with them having some alone time. Discovering that I am welcome inside a real house has been a wonderful learning curve. I've discovered beds, couches, chairs, and laps! Im still mastering the art of furniture lounging, though; I'm an incredibly agile girl, but I've still fallen off a couch or chair more times than I'd care to admit!

I love to climb as high as I can to watch the world and make sure everyone is safe and sound. Plus, being up high usually gets me closer to my foster's face for maximum pets. I am the perfect mix of playful energy, agility, curiosity, and pure love.

I would absolutely thrive in a home that:

Has plenty of love, patience, and treats to offer.

Embraces my inner lapdog and lets me express my deep affection.

Wants to play every day! I wake up every morning absolutely ready to enjoy life.

Note: I will alert you if someone comes too close to our space, but the second you show me they are a friend, they are welcomed with tail wags, kisses, and a polite reminder that I accept chin scratches.

Skills & Training

I am incredibly eager to learn and very easy to train, especially when you remember that the indoor world is still a bit new to me. For example, if I jump on a table, it's just because I didn't know it was bad manners—in the past, that's how I found food. Nowadays, I rarely do it because I know I'll never go hungry again! When I do it now, it's just to get close to my human. My foster is gentle with guiding me off and reminding me that I get just as many pets when all four paws are on the floor.

Here is my current report card:

House Training: Doing great! I do well if I'm let out regularly or if you watch for my cues.

Crate & Space Training: I love to chill in a crate as long as the door stays open, and I will patiently relax in an x-pen after meals. Lately, I've been trusted to roam free in the house when left alone and I've done wonderfully (especially if temptations are put away!).

Leash Manners: I walk beautifully on a leash! I get very wiggly and excited when the leash comes out, so we are currently practicing how to sit still before heading out the door.

Commands: I already know Sit, Shake, and I have excellent recall!

Fun Quirks & Future Hobbies

Future Agility Star: My foster thinks I would excel at agility courses! I have absolutely no fear of climbing, jumping, or performing balance-beam routines.

The Nest-Digger: I like to dig at my sleeping spot before lying down. It was a necessary habit in my past life, and old habits can be hard to break. I'm trying, though! If you ask me to settle and give me some soothing pets, I realize the spot is already perfect and I'll drift right to sleep.

If Baby sounds like the agile, affectionate, and joyful partner you've been looking for, please reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet!

Adoption fee is $295. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed.

New Hope Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
New Hope Dog Rescue is a registered non-profit and foster-based organization that has been rescuing and rehoming dogs in need since 2003. To provide a safe, foster-based environment for neglected and unwanted dogs, while promoting the human animal bond through education and community outreach. All of the dogs who join our program are partnered with loving and dedicated foster parents who open their homes to these animals in need. Foster families also help provide the care the dogs require until they can be matched with adoptive, permanent homes. Every dog receives proper medical care while with New Hope. This will range from the basics (vaccinations, deworming, microchip, spay/neuter), while others will require more extensive care (anything from dental work, to corrective surgery, to treatment of skin conditions). We rely on donations and support from the community to allow us to cover these medical expenses and to carry out and continue our mission. We are always in need of adopters, foster homes, donors and volunteers. To learn more, visit our website at www.newhoperescue.org Since the organization was founded, New Hope has found loving homes for over 4000 dogs! That is 4337 dogs given a better chance at life, 40337 dogs that had no hope before that were given a new hope and a new chance. In the first year (2003) 29 dogs were adopted into loving homes, now we average 250 dogs a year. This would not be possible without the amazing support of our community and loving families that open their hearts and homes to a dog in need. Whether it is fostering, volunteering, adopting, donating- it makes a world of difference for these dogs and thank you to everyone that has helped make our first 20 years as successful as it has been. Why adopt from New Hope? All of our dogs are health-checked by a veterinarian, and are up to date on needed vaccinations All dogs are micro chipped- a permanent identification for your dog Dogs over 5 months old are spayed/neutered If something unforeseen happens and you cannot keep your dog, New Hope will take the dog back into our foster care program- we will always be here for our adopted dogs. Our dogs live in home environments as a member of the family, which gives us a great sense of what they will be like in your home as well! This also helps ensure that they are well socialized. Most importantly, you save a life! Why foster for New Hope? New Hope provides all the needed supplies to foster including, but not limited to; food, leash, collar, crate, toys and bowls. Training support, obedience classes and daycare hours are also provided. On top of all this any medical care that is required, vaccinations, micro chipping, spay/neuters and anything else that the dog needs well in New Hope’s care is covered! If you have a vacation coming up, we can accommodate that too. What we ask of you is to provide a safe, loving and warm home for a dog in need of a temporary place to stay while awaiting adoption. Most importantly, you save a life! Why donate to New Hope? At any given time New Hope has 50-60, sometimes as many as 100 foster dogs in our care. As you can imagine vet care for this amount of dogs is very expensive. Your donations help to pay for routine vet care such as needed vaccinations and spay/neuter, but they also help with special cases that need diagnostics, surgery and potentially rehab. Check out our Guardians of Hope page at http://www.newhoperescue.org/guardians-of-hopeto see the current list of dogs in need of a little extra love and attention.
