Yes!
BREED: Pit Bull mix

If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, couch-loving companion, Ayla might just be your perfect match!

Ayla is your typical lovable pit bull. She's incredibly food motivated, loves people, gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, and wants nothing more than to be by your side. She's equally happy lounging on the couch, soaking up the sunshine, or simply hanging out with her favorite humans.

She's a professional couch potato, an enthusiastic snack enthusiast, and a devoted companion who has so much love to give.

Ayla has a wonderful temperament and is friendly with adults, children, and other dogs. She currently lives with cats in her foster environment, but we've noticed that she can sometimes become overly interested in them and may try to chase them, particularly when they're coming in and out of the house. For everyone's safety, we believe Ayla would be happiest in a home without cats.

Ayla's Story

Ayla's story began on the streets of Mexico, where she was found wandering while in heat, followed by a pack of male dogs. Although she technically had owners, she was allowed to roam freely without anyone looking out for her safety.

After speaking with her owners, we received permission to have her spayed. Unfortunately, what should have been a routine procedure turned into a life-threatening emergency when her surgical incision completely opened. She required a second emergency surgery, and for a while, we weren't sure she would survive.

With the loving care of our foster Romy, she recovered and showed us just how special she really is. Despite everything she had been through, Ayla remained affectionate, trusting, and incredibly grateful for every bit of attention she received.

Unfortunately, with our foster homes completely full, Ayla eventually had to return to the streets.

For over TWO YEARS, Ayla waited on the streets!

Every time our volunteer team visited her neighborhood to feed and care for the street dogs, Ayla would recognize us from down the street and come running, her whole body wiggling with excitement.

She never forgot the people who showed her kindness.

Thankfully, we have now been able to get Ayla off the streets, and she is currently staying in a paid boarding facility while she waits for someone to give her the home she deserves.

But a boarding facility is not a forever home.

A Few Things About Ayla's Medical Needs.....Ayla has a cherry eye, which will require corrective surgery (we will get this surgery done in Mexico BEFORE arriving to Portland for adoption). This does not change the wonderful dog she is, but we want her future family to be aware of it and be prepared to provide any necessary follow-up care.

Please Give Ayla a Chance!

More than two years. That's how long this sweet girl has been waiting for someone to choose her.

Two years of watching other dogs find homes while she continues to wait for her turn.

And the heartbreaking part? Ayla isn't asking for much.

She doesn't need a marathon runner, an adventurous hiking partner, or a family with a huge backyard.

She just wants a comfortable couch, a sunny spot to nap, some yummy treats, and people who will love her as much as she'll love them.

*************************
Ready to apply?
