Axel's Story

Axel is just an all-around fabulous galgo! He’s 7 years old & has been in the US for a while so he knows everything about living in a home. He’s a BIG galgo at 80 lbs & because of that potential adopters should have no kids under the age of 10. He loves to play with toys & run around outside in a fenced yard. He must have a fence no shorter than 5 feet. He gets along great with other dogs but it’s unknown at this time how he would be with cats. He’s currently being fostered in VA, but can travel for the right family. Senior Sighthound Sanctuary, Inc.'s Adoption Policy

All applications are screened by the Director to determine if the adopter may be a potential family for the dog. We act on behalf of the dog & the dogs in our care will need an extra special family, considering their age and/or medical condition. Once the applicant is determined to be a potential match, a volunteer will process the application, to include contacting the applicant, contacting their references, contacting their landlord (when applicable), & contacting their vet, if they currently have any pets. After the application is processed, the Director contacts the applicant to discuss the dog's needs & will arrange a meeting with the entire family & any current pets.
